Mask up all windows and cover all floors, tiles and roof tiles before work starts. Prime bare plaster. Scrap and fill all holes and cracks, then apply a flexible silicon to make water tight. Apply 2 coats to small cracks on walls by brush or roller. Apply 2 full coats of water proofing paint by roller to walls.
Apply primer to plaster walls such as Resene Limelock it traps free lime in the cementitious substrate protecting the paint finish against the appearance of unsightly lime staining, and providing a perfect base for subsequent Resene finishes. Apply 3 coats of elastomeric water proofing paint such as Resene X-200 or Flexecover E. Fibrelight soffits to receive 3 coats of paint.
All areas of loose paint to be removed, further sanding and smoothing may be necessary for appearance. An appropriate primer to be applied to all bare wood and metal to assure proper adhesion of the new paint, this step also helps prevent future peeling in these areas. Any loose filler is to be replaced, any open gaps to be filled with new filler to prevent rain water from penetrating below the surface. All loose nails to be reset and re-puttied as necessary. All loose putty in windows to be replaced if necessary. All areas to be painted are to receive 2 coats of acrylic paint. |
